Default need new plugs...any suggestions?

My '97 Firebird has the 3800 engine and is in need of new spark plugs (at least I hope that's all it needs). I was wondering if the stock Delco's are the way to go, or if something else is superior. The car drives fine normally until I kick it in the gashole. Then it spits and sputters and falls on it's face when normally it hooks and goes. I'm gonna start with new plugs and go from there, just wondering if anyone has experience with the best plugs to run with.

I just put stock ones back in in September with Ryan Jackson. I have to replace them now because of some work I am doing. It's calling for TR-6s gapped at .035 instead of the typical .050. Doing plugs on an LT1 are an SOB, especially since I am not doing headers

I would say to stick with the stock Delco plugs. I changed mine last year and I cheaped out and bought some NGK platinum plugs just to save a couple bucks. The NGK platinum's made my car run like complete $hit. So what ever you do, don't put platinum's in, from what I have heard/read/seen, the 3.8's don't like platinum plugs. I ended up putting in AC Delco iridium spark plugs in within 2 days, it's been about 7 months and I have yet to experience any problems with them.

Sounds like your getting a misfire or multiple misfires? I would check the wires when your changing the plugs, check them for cracks and damage.

Thanx for the info, I think I'll go with the stock Delco's. Hopefully they will rectify the problem, and I will definately be checking the wires. Spring's almost here and I am ready to roll.

I've only got about 20,000 on the plugs that are in there now, I bought the car two years ago with them in it. So unfortunately I have no idea how many miles are on them total. I appreciate the offer to install them, but I live quite a distance from you 2002Z4CSS. I think my brother and I are gonna tackle them when the weather breaks. He has changed plugs on his LS-1 so he's used to tight spaces. Or we'll break enough stuff trying and have to put in a V-8!!
